Took the scope (and the family) to visit our friends in Palm Desert, Ca. Had a morning birding outing to Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, which was very nice. The birds, however were not too cooperative. The Western Bluebird below was an exception, giving some decent views.
The real fun was back at the garden, with plenty of willing and photogenic Costa's Hummingbirds and Verdins, both new species for me.
You did great things with both birds. I think it takes a photo like this to really "see" a Verdin. Damn little birds...
ReplyDeleteMorongo was one of my first birding excursions, when I was a sophomore in High School. What a great place!
Outstanding photos, Glenn! Love that purple gorget!
