It has been a busy month but I have managed to get behind the scope a few times.  Finally catching up with some various images.

First Outing With The New Nikon V1

First I headed out to Coal Oil Point Reserve in Goleta, where there is a nesting site for Snowy Plovers.  They are cute and entertaining little birds, and did not mind at all having their photos taken.

 Back at home, the female Scott's Oriole came for a visit and actually stayed still

long enough for a nice photo shoot.

New Camera!!!

Hearing good reports, I wnet and got a new Nikon V1 to hopefully improve my digiscoping results.

So far so good, here are the results of the first shots.  It seems to be easier to get crisp photos.

Quite a few birds around this morning, so I pulled out the scope for awhile.  Managed some OK shots, but missed the Canyon Wren!

Another Winter Day At The Beach

Since the weather continues to be great I was fortunate to head out to the local slough and try to get some good photos.

The weather continues to be fine, so I am doing my best to get out and practice.  Practice makes perfect, right?  Hopefully eventually I'll get some better photos to show for it.

A Visit To The Beach

Happy New Year!  Since the January weather continues to be glorious, I figured it was time to head to the beach.  There is a flock of Black Skimmers that stays in Santa Barbara much of the year, and I have been menaing to get down and take their portraits for some time now.  They are a bit funny looking and I find them quite interesting to watch.
